( species ) Vulcan by initial designation; in fact Vulcan/Human hybrid
( affiliation ) Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets
( rank ) commander, first-officer of the USS Enterprise; science officer
( mission ) five-year exploratory mission into undiscovered space, where the Enterprise would act as ambassadors on behalf of the Federation when sentient species were found; generally this also involved managing the parties assigned on the outer edge of known space
( abilities ) highly trained intellect and control over emotions; physically superior to humans; able to withstand extreme conditions much better than humans ( particularly hot, dry, desert-like climates similar to Vulcan ); hand-to-hand combat training ( including Vulcan nerve pinch ); mind-melding; adaptive stomach; some other psionic abilities, usually touch-based, allowing for telepathy and suggestion, all of which seem to be relatively untrained in this Spock.
( weaknesses ) particularly sensitive to nitrous oxide gas; being half human presumably allows for more emotional availability; debatably pon farr ( mating drive ); being Vulcan and logic-based often means he takes things very literal and has a lowered sense of empathy. technically chocolate or high sugar content will get him drunk. Vulcans are hardier than humans, but still susceptible to being injured under extreme conditions ( high radiation exposure, being shot, etc ).
( physiology notes ) Vulcans are very similar to humans. aside from the obvious variation in their eyebrows and ears, Vulcans have green blood due to a higher concentration of copper and have little to no salt content. their hearts are about where the human liver would be expected to be.
( other notes; ) Spock is a vegetarian, albeit by choice, not out of necessity. his original form showed some signs of inebriation for the sugar content in peppermint, and it's alluded that chocolate will get him drunk. also keeping in line with his original, it's assumed Spock is a fan of literature, art, poetry, and music; supposedly his human lineage is descended from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
